Unit 3 Model Reflection

I was not able to make it to many of the live model drawing classes. Unfortunately, I contracted COVID-19 and struggled for over a month with symptoms. However, I was able to find moments of opportunity and sneak a drawing in here and there. I also have been working through a book “Keys to Drawing” that provides live model drawing exercises. This has been helpful.

I enjoy drawing people but find them very shy and reluctant to participate as models. For this reason, I am thankful for the drawing live model classes.

During class sessions, I found that I tended to go beyond boundaries and challenge myself with technique and style. I think the classroom environment provides me with the freedom to explore, peers’ work provides inspiration to draw from and instructors’ lessons give me the incentive to discover and expand my creative spark.

I found that this term I did not get caught up on the detail of the image. I abandoned or rather ignored the strict voice of control and willfully embraced exploring line and form.  I had fun going beyond my experiences and pushing through to discover form, style, and oneness with the action of mark-making.

It is unfortunate that I tool so ill with COVID-19 and missed a few of the model classes. I truly enjoyed what I did participate in.
